This document contains important information when using the HP 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader and MSL Tape
Library Encryption Kit.
Firmware requirements
Verify that the autoloader or library has the most up-to-date firmware revision before using the encryption
kit.
To find the version of firmware installed on the MSL6480, see the main screen. To find the version of firmware
installed on the autoloader or other libraries, see the remote management interface (RMI) Support: Firmware
screen.
To find the most up-to-date firmware revision, visit http://www.hp.com/support and download the firmware
files. If necessary, update the firmware from the RMI or using HP Library & Tape Tools (L&TT). You can
download the latest L&TT from http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools.
Migrating keys from other key server tokens
You can seed new key server tokens with encryption keys from other tokens from the RMI screen. For the
MSL6480, use the Configuration > Encryption > USB — MSL Encryption Kit screen. For the autoloader and
other libraries, use the RMI Configuration: Security screen. See the HP 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader and MSL
Tape Library Encryption Kit User Guide or RMI online help for instructions.
If the Number of Keys to Backup option is not visible, either the token does not have a current backup or
the autoloader or library firmware is out of date.
