HP StoreEver Enterprise Systems Library (ESL) G3 Tape Library Control Module Installation Instructions

1. Select Setup→Setup Wizard to install license keys,
create at least one partition, set network
parameters, and set the date and time.
2. Select Setup→Licenses if there are additional
license keys to enter.
NOTE: Command View TL must be used
to enter the TC347A, TC405A, and
TC474A license keys. Be sure to download
the latest Command View TL software for
the customer. Command View TL can also
be used to launch the LMC, enter additional
license keys, and enable TapeAssure and
Data Verification features.
3. If needed, select Tools→Update Firmware to
update library and drive firmware to the latest
versions.
4. Select Setup→Notifications→System Setup to enter
customer contact information and email
notification settings.
5. Select Setup→Library Settings to adjust general
library behavioral settings.
6. Select Setup→Network Configuration→Network
Security Settings to enable network protocols
including SNMP and SMI-S.
7. Select Setup→Drive Settings to adjust drive speed
and connection parameters.
8. If licensed features such as Partitioning,
Automated Media Pool, Secure Manager, Control
Path Failover, or Data Path Failover are enabled,
select Setup→Partitions and Setup→Secure
Manager to configure them.

Post installation checklist
Complete the following checklists to ensure proper
installation.
Physical Set Up
Verify the following items to ensure physical setup.
• Has the library been leveled to 0.00 +/-0.30
using the digital level?
• Are all magazines seated correctly?
• If hardware revision 1, has the x-axis rail been
leveled to 0.00+/-0.05 in reference to the floor
of the library using the digital level?
• If hardware revision 1, has the accessor assembly
(y-axis rail) been aligned to within 1mm of the
scribe marks?
• If hardware revision 1, have the x and y-axis belt
tensioners been set to within 5 mm?
Drives
Verify the following items to ensure the drive
installation.
• Are all drives installed in the correct drive sled
positions?
• Are all thumb screws that retain the drive sled
tightened?
• Do all the drives have a blinking green status LED?
• Are all the green tape drive LEDs synchronized?
Boards
Verify the following items to ensure the board
installation.
• Are all blades inserted in the correct bays and
locked into place?
• Is the LBX terminator installed on the last frame?
Configuration
Verify the following items to ensure proper
configuration.
• Has a Tools→Library
Diagnostics→Teach→Configure and a
Tools→Library Diagnostics→Teach→Calibrate
been performed?
• Has a full inventory from the physical view been
performed (Operations→Inventory)?
• Has an Installation Verification Test been
performed (Tools→Library
Diagnostics→Verification Test)?
