Abstract

This document describes how to remove and replace an

existing or install a new six-slot LTO magazine assembly in

an ESL G3 Tape Library.

CAUTION: Parts can be damaged by

electrostatic discharge. Keep parts in their

containers until needed. Make sure that you are

properly grounded when touching static sensitive

components.

NOTE: To ensure proper operation of tape

cartridges, pickers, and drives, make sure your

hands are dirt- and grease-free before handling

tape cartridges.

Inspect the contents of the kit

The kit contains one six-slot LTO magazine assembly.

Prepare the library

1. On the operator panel, press the Robotics Enabled

button to turn off power to the picker assembly

and return it to the home position.

2. Open the access (front) door.

3. Remove any cartridges from the magazine, noting

their original location for return to the same

location in the replacement magazine.

Remove the existing magazine

(replacement only)

Magazines must be removed in a top-down order. For

example, to remove a magazine in column 3, section

4, you must first remove the magazines located in

column 3, sections 1–3.

1. 2. To remove magazines in the IE load port, pull each magazine out horizontally. To remove all other magazines, push each magazine upwards until it unsnaps, then pull it out. 3. 4. 5.
