Ibrix Windows 3.1.625 Client Unable to Open Case Sensitive Files

Ibrix Windows 3.1.625 client unable to open Case
Sensitive files
Solution ID: 97
Created: 4/2/2009
DETAILS:
In order to accommodate platform differences with a case sensitive
Linux back-end and a case-insensitive Windows front-end, improvements
have been made in how case related issues are resolved.
First, the default settings have changed in the new Windows client to the mode
"CaseInSensitive = YES" which no longer relies on scanning an entire directory
to resolve case issues.
In this mode all new file and directory names originating from the Windows client
are made lower case.
Second, improvements have been made to allow existing mixed case file and
directory names to operate properly when accessed. An order of precedence
allows the finding of a file or directory first by the exact case entered, second by
the lowercased name.
Files created in mixed case under the previous default setting will continue to
function, however new files will be created in the lower case.
If you truly need to revert back to the old default of directory scanning, where we look ne
by one through the files and apply a case-insensitive match to the directory listings of a
directory to find a file, that old mode "CaseInSensitive = NO" is available by setting the
appropriate registry setting.
To set the windows system back to its previous default settings, add a
STRING registry setting named:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Ibrix\IDE\IDEFS\CaseInSensitive
to "No"
We changed the default because the old directory scanning mode does have some
performance risks if there are a large number of files in a directory. You will have to
decide which method satisfies overall the customer's requirements of case sensitivity
and performance.
