2 Troubleshooting
This section includes resolutions for various error conditions you m ay encounter.
If you are unable to resolve an error condition, ask your HP support representative for
assistance. See Calling the H P support center.
Error conditions
Depending on your
system conguration, you may be able to view error messages
as follows:
In Remote Web Console XP (Status tab)
In Command View XP Advanced Edition (“Alerts panel)
In Command Vie
w XP (Event History or Event Notication panels)

The logical devices are not
recognized by the system.
Verify that the READY indicator lights on the disk
array are ON.
Verify that the cables are correctly installed and rmly
connected.
Check for bent pins on the connectors and
terminators.
Verify that the target IDs are properly congured.
The LUNs for each TID must start at 0 and continue
sequentially without skipping any numbers.
Verify that the TIDs/WWNs on each bus are unique.
Do not connect two devices with the same ID on the
same bus.
TheNTsystemdoesnotreboot
properly after hard shutdown.
If the NT sy
stem is powered off without executing the
shutdown process, wait three minutes before restarting
it. This pause allows the disk array’s internal time-out
process to purge all queued comm ands so that it is
availa
ble (not busy) during system start-up. If the
NT syst
em i s restarted too soon, the disk array will
conti
nue trying to process the queued commands,
andtheNTsystemwillnotrebootsuccessfully.
The system hangs.
Verify that the target IDs/WWNs are set correctly
and are not duplicated.
