HP StorageWorks Disk Array XP operating system configuration guide: Windows NT (A5951-96023, December 2005)
Fabric zoning and LUN security for multiple operating systems
You can connect multiple clusters of various operating systems to the same fabric using
appropriate zoning and LUN security as follows:
• Storage port zones may overlap if more than one operating system needs to
share an arra
yport.
• Heterogeneous operating systems m ay share an XP array port if you use Secure
Manager a nd set the appropriate host group and mode. All others must connect
to a dedicat
ed XP array por t.
• Use Secure Manager for LUN isolation when multiple hosts connect through a
shared array p ort. Secure Manager provides LUN security by allowing you to
restrict w
hich LUNs each host ca n a ccess.
• QLogic and Emulex H BAs must be in separate zones (a QLogic zone and an
Emulex zone) whether the HBAs are in the same or separate servers.
• If bootin
g from the array, the bo oting HBAs must be from the same vendor.
Additio
nal data storage HBAs can be fro m a different vendor.
• If you plan to use clustering, install and configure the clustering software on the
servers. Clustering is the organization of multiple servers into g roups. Within
a cluster, each server is a node. Multiple clusters compose a multi-cluster
enviro
nment. The following example shows a multi-cluster environment with three
clusters, each containing two nodes. The nodes share access to the disk array.
