HP StorageWorks Disk Array XP operating system configuration guide: MPE/iX (A5951-96145, November, 2005)

Use the MAPPER (or MAPPER2 for A-Class and N-Class) I/O mapping utilit y program in
the Ofine Diagnostic Environment (OD E) to display the I/O paths for the SCSI HBAs
and the disk array devices (targets and LUNs) . Then use either SYSGEN or MPE/iX’s
IOCONFIG utility command and the I/O paths reported by MAPPER to perform the
MPE/iX I/O conguration of SCSI HBAs and disk Ldevs.
To congure disk array devices attach ed by SCSI-FC Fabric Router:
1. Boot the system to the ISL> prompt on the primary boot path.
2. Invoke the OD E (Ofine Diagnostic Environment) system from the ISL> prompt.
3. Run the MAPPER (or MAPPER2 for A- and N-Class systems) I/O mapping utility
within ODE.
Running MAPPER will verify that the disk array d evices are recognized by the host
system. MAPPER should see and report the presence of all of the new SCSI HBAs
and XP disk array devices.
4. Locate the I/O paths for the SCSI HBAs and disk array devices in the MAPPER
output, and record the paths for later use in SYSGEN or IOCONFIG.
5. Exit the OD E system back to the ISL> prompt.
6. Start MPE/iX on the primary boot path.
7. RuneitherSYSGENorIOCONFIGtoperformI/Oconguration of the SCSI H BAs
for the disk array devices and the disk array Ldevs.
8. For SYSGEN, after saving the I/O conguration, you must shut down and restart the
OS to put the new conguration into effect. For IOCONFIG, the new conguration
is immediately effective without a ny shutdown and reboot.
9. Use the MPE/iX VOLUTIL utility to create volume sets and volumes on the new
disk array d evices.
A sample I/O conguration p rocedure for disk array devices attached by SCSI-FC
Fabric Router is presented below. For brevity, this example shows only relevant excerpts
fro m the MAPPER listing:
1. Boot on the primary boot path.
