Fibre Channel interface
The MPE/iX host can use the A6795A 2 Gbps Fibre Channel HBA to connect to the disk
array. The disk arr
ay port should not use auto negotiate to detect the speed of the host
Fibre Channel ada
pter. Configure it "hard" to either 1 or 2 Gbps.
Even though the in
terface is Fibre Channel, this guide uses the term “SCSI disk” because
disk array devic
es are defined to the host as SCSI disks.
SCSI-FC Fabric router
The H P e3000 supports the A5814A-003 SCSI-FC Fabric Router hardware, which
enables an HP e3000 with HVD SCSI HBAs to connect to a disk array with a Fibre
Channel interface. The router converts data between the SCSI I/O interface at the host
server and the Fibre Channel I/O interface at the disk array.
Device types
TheHPe3000systemsupportsonlyOPEN-xdevicetypes.LUSEandCVSdevicetypes
are not supported.
Failover
The XP family of disk arrays supports many standard software products that p rovide host,
application, or I/O path failover and management.
The HP e3000 system supports I/O path failover for the disk arrays by me ans of the
MPE/iX High Availability FailOver/iX software product.
