HP Replication Adapter for VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager Administrator Guide (5697-2491, February 2013)

Figure 10 Remote configuration
The testFailover configuration requires the following:
Ability to communicate between HORCM of the primary site and recovery sites.
CA Sync CTG/CAJ volumes must be used in a NON stopping test of APP.
RMSRA20 does not use BC_SVOLs with the failover for the following reasons:
If BC_SVOL is used with CAJ(Async), data is due to ASYNC data transfer.
DB may be started with old data even though BC_SVOL has data consistency. This occurred
on CA_PVOL_PSUS when a user did failover accidentally during CA suspend.
If you perform Resync BC_SVOL from CA_SVOL/BC_PVOL by mistake, all updated data are
lost.
Using Cow_SVOL, causes performance degradation, due to differences from the primary
PVOL.
It is difficult to perform a failback operation in SRM.
RAID700 or RAID600 F/W version 60-04-02 or later is supported at-time-split for CoW and is
required. XP2000/24000 Firmware version 60-04-02 or later and P9500 supports at-time-split
for CoW. Volumes using CoW w have the NO READ attribute set when in PAIR or SMPL state and
cannot be used for booting. When in PSUS state, the volume changes to Read/Write enabled and
is usable for booting.
