Conventions for storage capacity values
Use the following values to calculate physical storage capacity (hard disk drives) for HP XP storage
systems:
• 1 KB (kilobyte) = 1,000 bytes
•
1 MB (megabyte) = 1,000
2
bytes
•
1 GB (gigabyte) = 1,000
3
bytes
•
1 TB (terabyte) = 1,000
4
bytes
Use the following values to calculate logical storage capacity (logical devices) for HP XP storage
systems:
• 1 KB (kilobyte) = 1,024 bytes
•
1 MB (megabyte) = 1,024
2
bytes
•
1 GB (gigabyte) = 1,024
3
bytes
•
1 TB (terabyte) = 1,024
4
bytes
• 1 block = 512 bytes
Rack stability
Rack stability protects personnel and equipment.
WARNING!
To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to equipment:
• Extend leveling jacks to the floor.
• Ensure that the full weight of the rack rests on the leveling jacks.
• Install stabilizing feet on the rack.
• In multiple-rack installations, fasten racks together securely.
• Extend only one rack component at a time. Racks can become unstable if more than one component
is extended.
