Mechanical vibration
Continuous vibration can cause a slow degradation of mechanical parts and, when severe, can cause
data errors in disk drives. Mechanical connections such as printed circuit assembly (PCA) conductors,
cable connectors, and processor backplane wiring can also be affected by vibrations. Vibration
specifications apply to all three axes.

AC line voltage requirements
This section lists the AC power recommendations. Each rack has four power cords. In case of a failure
of the power source for one cord, the power requirements, and therefore the current requirement for
the remaining power cord, will double.
For details about electrical specifications, cabling, and connectors, see the HP StorageWorks XP10000
Disk Array Site Preparation Guide.

breakers
HP requires a separate branch circuit for each power cord connection. The circuit breaker for each
branch circuit must have a minimum rating of 20 amps. Breakers must be easily visible and accessible
so power can be quickly removed in an emergency. Local building electrical codes may dictate
specific additional circuit breaker requirements. Consult your electrician or local code for the
requirements in your location.
If you have multiple power sources, such as a UPS, connect two of the power cords for each cabinet
to each power source for maximum protection from power outages. Consult your local HP service
representative about which power cords are to be attached to the two power sources.
