HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2
Step 6: Verifying the system operation 4–9
4.5.2 Reinstalling the HP SFS system software
Before you start to reinstall the HP SFS system software, examine the output from the show array
array_number command to determine if the arrays are correctly configured to meet your needs. For
example, if you plan to use more than one file system, the arrays connected to the administration and MDS
servers (and used for MDS LUNs) may not be configured appropriately (that is, they may not have enough
LUNs). If the arrays are not configured to meet your needs, unconfigure them as described in Chapter 3 of
the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide before proceeding to reinstall the software.
To reinstall the system software, follow the instructions in Chapter 6 (if your system uses EVA4000 storage)
or Chapter 7 (if your system uses SFS20 storage). In a factory-installed system, many of the more time-
consuming steps in the installation process have already been done at the factory, and there are some tasks
that you do not need to perform. Note the following points:
• You do not need to configure the ProLiant DL servers. The servers will already be at the correct
firmware levels, and the iLOs will already be configured with the correct IP address.
• (EVA4000 storage only) On a factory-installed system, a number of the tasks involved in configuring
EVA4000 storage have already been performed. You do not need to determine host bus adapter
WWIDs, create hosts, or present virtual disks as LUNs.
However, you must assign roles to the administration and service LUNs, as described in Chapter 6.
Note that when you reinstall the system software, the LUN and array numbers will change.
For information on how EVA4000 storage is configured, see Chapter 5.
• (SFS20 storage only) The storage is configured in the factory, using the configure array
command.
Note that when you reinstall the system software, the LUN and array numbers will change.
• When you reinstall the system software, the root user password is reset to the default of secret. HP
strongly recommends that you change the password as part of the installation process.
Follow the procedures in Chapter 6 (if your system uses EVA4000 storage) or Chapter 7 (if your system uses
SFS20 storage) to install the system software.
4.6 Step 6: Verifying the system operation
When you have completed the installation as described in Chapter 6 or Chapter 7, verify the system
operation by performing the following tasks:
1. Verify the system configuration using the syscheck command.
2. Verify the operation of power management.
3. Verify the storage configuration.
4. Verify LUN performance.
5. Verify the management network.
6. Verify the interconnect, as appropriate for your interconnect type.
In addition, modify the email alerts that have been created by default (that is, change the email addresses
on the alerts).
You can find detailed descriptions of all of these tasks in Chapter 6 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File
Share System User Guide.
