HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

Step 4: Verifying the system reassembly 4–7
8. Enter e to save your changes as follows:
.
.
.
e) Exit (save updates)
q) Quit (discard updates)
Enter your choice [a]: e
9. Reconfigure the networking configuration on the administration server, by entering the command
shown in the following example (where south1 is the administration server):
sfs> configure server south1 redo=Clusterized
10. Boot the MDS server and reconfigure the networking configuration on the MDS server, by entering the
commands shown in the following example (where south2 is the MDS server):
sfs> boot server south2
.
.
.
sfs> configure server south2
11. For security purposes, you may wish to change the password for the root user at this point. (Note
that when you later reinstall the system software, the password will revert to the default password, and
you will change it again as part of the installation process.) See Section 2.10 for tips on choosing a
password.
To change the root user password, enter the following command:
sfs> set password root
Please enter new root password:
Please retype root password:
When you enter the command, you are asked to enter the new password—you do not have to enter
the old password. You are then asked to enter the new password a second time for confirmation. The
password entries are not echoed to the screen.
NOTE: Do not use the passwd(1) command to change the root user password; this will only
change the password on the administration server, and the password will remain set to the
default (secret) on the other servers in the system.
12. If you have changed the root user password, enter the configure server command for the
administration and MDS servers, as shown in the following example:
sfs> configure servers south[1-2]
13. Boot the Object Storage Servers, by entering the command shown in the following example (where
south3 and south4 are the Object Storage Servers):
sfs> boot servers south[3,4]
When you have completed these steps, you will be able to log in to the administration and the MDS servers
using the new IP addresses. Proceed to Section 4.4 to verify that the system has been reassembled correctly.
4.4 Step 4: Verifying the system reassembly
Chapter 6 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide describes how to verify that a
system has been installed correctly and is operating normally. Use the instructions in that chapter to verify
that the factory-installed system has been reassembled correctly. However, note that there are some factors
that prevent you from carrying out some of the tests described in that chapter, as follows:
If the interconnect was not assembled and tested in the factory, postpone the interconnect tests
described in Chapter 6 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide until the
interconnect is attached and configured.
If no file systems were created in the factory, you cannot perform any test that requires the presence of
a file system.
