About this guide
This guide describes how to install and configure the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share (HP SFS) system
software.
This guide describes only the software and hardware components of the HP SFS product. It does not
document standard Linux® administrative tasks or the functions provided by standard Linux tools and
commands; it provides only administrative information and instructions for tasks specific to HP SFS.
Audience
This guide is intended for experienced Linux system administrators. The information in this guide assumes
that you have experience with Linux administrative tasks and are familiar with the Linux operating system.

Structure of this guide
The contents of the guide are as follows:
Chapter 1 provides an overview of the HP SFS product.
Chapter 2 describes the information that you need to gather before installing and configuring the HP
SFS system.
Chapter 3 provides an overview of the sfsmgr(8) utility, which allows you to manage the HP SFS
system.
Chapter 4 describes how to configure a system that has had the HP SFS software installed before
being delivered to your site.
Chapter 5 describes storage concepts and provides instructions for configuring EVA4000 storage
arrays.
Chapter 6 contains instructions for installing the servers in HP SFS systems that use EVA4000 storage
arrays.
Chapter 7 contains instructions for installing the servers in HP SFS systems that use SFS20 storage
arrays.
Chapter 8 contains instructions for upgrading an earlier version of the HP SFS software.
