Table 2-3 shows how the IPoIB interfaces could be configured where a single network is shared by multiple
partitions.
2.4.3.2 Determining the Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect information
If the InfiniBand interconnect is not partitioned, you must configure a single IP interface (ipoib0) with the
default partition key (Pkey) value of 0xffff. If the interconnect is partitioned, you must configure multiple
IP interfaces (ipoib0, ipoib1, and so on) with the appropriate Pkeys (as described in Section 2.4.3.1).
When you are installing the servers, you will be asked to supply the following information:
• The IP address of the first server in the system on the Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect interface.
Note that if the client system is an HP XC system, the IP addresses on the Voltaire InfiniBand
interconnect interface must be in the range of the HP XC system.
When you configure the Voltaire InfiniBand interconnect during installation, you specify the IP
address on the network for the first server in the system. The system software assumes that the IP
addresses for all of the servers in the system are contiguous, and assigns the IP addresses
accordingly. However, you can later change the IP addresses of individual servers. The process for
doing this is described in Chapter 7 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide.
• The netmask for the InfiniBand interconnect interface.
• The maximum transfer unit (MTU) of the InfiniBand interconnect interface. HP recommends that you
use the default of 1500.
