HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

Planning the networks 2–9
Configuration 5
A dedicated single Gigabit Ethernet interconnect is used. The interconnect does not have a connection to
the site network.
Figure 2-6 shows the connections in this configuration.
Figure 2-6 Configuration 5—Single Gigabit Ethernet interconnect and separate site network
In this configuration, the connections are as follows:
NIC 1 on all of the servers in the HP SFS system is connected to the management network.
NIC 2 on all servers is connected to the interconnect.
On ProLiant DL360 servers, the PCI slots are used as follows:
On the administration server and the MDS server, an adapter is used in the first PCI slot for the
connection to the site network.
The first PCI slot on all Object Storage Servers is unused.
The second PCI slot on each server is always used for connection to storage.
On ProLiant DL380 servers, the PCI slots are used as follows:
On the MDS and administration servers, an adapter is used in the first PCI slot for the connection
to the site network.
The first PCI slot on all Object Storage Servers is unused.
The second and third PCI slots on each server are always used for connection to storage. One
slot may be unused if there is only one storage HBA. This slot may be used only for a connection
to storage.
