The components and interfaces of the server that are used by the HP SFS system include the following:
The Integrated Lights Out (iLO) management port
The iLO port is used to connect the iLO component in the server to the management network.
NIC 1 port
The NIC 1 port is used to connect the server to the management network.
NIC 2 port
The NIC 2 port may be used to connect the server to the site network, the interconnect, both, or
neither (see Section 2.4.1 for more information).
Smart Array 6404
PCI slot 3 (top slot) is used for a Smart Array 6404 adapter. This adapter has four ports, allowing up
to four SFS20 arrays to be connected to the server.
(Optional) Smart Array 6404
PCI slot 2 (middle slot) is reserved for a second Smart Array 6404 adapter. The adapter is present if
more than four SFS20 arrays are connected to the server.
(Optional) Interconnect adapter
PCI slot 1 (bottom slot) can be used for a Quadrics, Myrinet, Voltaire InfiniBand, dual Gigabit
Ethernet, or bonded Gigabit Ethernet adapter to connect the server to an interconnect.
Alternatively, in systems where a dedicated Gigabit Ethernet interconnect is used but is not attached
to the site network, an Ethernet adapter can be used in PCI slot 1 (bottom slot) on the administration
server and the MDS server to connect to the site network.
