HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

The configure array commandJ–4
luns_size Specifies the size of each LUN that is to be
created in the disk group (in addition to the
administration LUN or spare administration
LUN (created on arrays connected to the
administration server) and the service LUN
or spare service LUN, where these are
automatically created in the disk group).
Sizes can be specified in GB or
percentage, or you can specify all to
indicate that the LUN is to occupy all of the
(remaining) space in the disk group. If you
do not specify any LUN sizes, one LUN that
uses all of the available space in the disk
group is created.
all
raid Specifies the RAID redundancy level. Valid
values are ADG, 6, 5, 1+0, 1, and 0.
In HP SFS
Version 2.2, only RAID5 and
ADG (also called RAID6) redundancy are
supported. For 500GB disks, only ADG
redundancy is supported.
If the MDS LUNs are mirrored, both of the
component LUNs must be configured with
the same type of redundancy.
In any one file system, all OST LUNs must
be configured with the same redundancy
type; this does not have to be the same as
the redundancy type configured on the
MDS LUNs, although it would be unusual
for it to be different.
ADG
stripe_size Specifies the stripe size (in KB) across the
disk group. Valid values are 8, 16, 32, 64,
128, and 256.
In HP SFS
Version 2.2, only the 256KB
stripe size is supported.
256
sectors Specifies the number of sectors per track
for the logical drive (LUN). Valid values are
32 and 63.
In HP SFS
Version 2.2, only 32 sectors
per track are supported.
32
disks_per_group Specifies the number of physical disks that
each disk group is to contain. The number
of disks must be the same in each disk
group.
The default value of 11 may need to be
changed based on the size of disks used
and on performance requirements.
11
spare_disk_count Specifies the number of disks to be set
aside for each disk group for use in the
event of disk failure.
For example, if the disks_per_group
argument is set to the default (10), and the
spare_disk_count argument is also
set to the default (1), one disk will be
configured as a spare (that is, a total of 11
disks—10 plus 1 spare).
