HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

Object Storage Server storage topology 1–11
A configuration with less redundancy can be configured using one plane of Fibre Channel connectivity. This
configuration consists of the following components:
One EVA4000 pair.
One 4GB Fibre Channel switch.
One Fibre Channel connection from each controller to the switch (two connections in total).
Dual-port HBAs on each of two servers, one port connected to each switch.
A Fibre Channel HBA on each of two servers, one port not connected.
EVA4000 storage presented to each of two servers on each of two controllers (preferred to one).
With the exception of Fibre Channel switch failure, such a configuration tolerates the failures that are
tolerated by the two-switch configuration. As in the two-switch configuration, if Server 1 fails, Server 2 can
access the storage on EVA4000 1, while if Server 2 fails, Server 1 can access the storage on EVA4000 2.
Figure 1-8 shows an overview of storage connections where one Fibre Channel switch is used.

For information on configuring the storage on EVA4000 arrays, see Chapter 5.
