1.3 Supported hardware

Table 1-1 lists the supported hardware devices for HP SFS systems.

1.4 Object Storage Server storage topology

This section describes the topology of an HP SFS system. The section is organized as follows:

• Topology in systems using EVA4000 storage arrays (Section 1.4.1)

• Topology in systems using SFS20 storage arrays (Section 1.4.2)

1.4.1 Topology in systems using EVA4000 storage arrays

An EVA4000 array is a redundant, dual controller, Fibre Channel attached RAID array. In HP SFS

configurations, the EVA4000 comprises of two shelves of up to 14 Fibre Channel disks, connected within

a dual redundant Fibre Channel loop enclosure, in addition to the controller pair.

The EVA4000 consists of a pair of controllers, each of which has two active connections, so that a fully

redundant configuration can consist of the following components:

• One EVA4000 pair.

• Two 4GB Fibre Channel switches.
