HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

Upgrading a system8–8
While in portals compatibility mode, the SFS system can only use
1 Interconnect. This system is configured to use 2 interconnects
(elan, tcp). You must choose 1 of these interconnects to use while
running the SFS system in portals compatibility mode.
Choose one of the following interconnects elan tcp (or Cancel) []: tcp
While in portals compatibility mode, the SFS system can not use a
Dual Gigabit Ethernet interconnect. This system is configured to use
a Dual Gigabit Ethernet interconnect, using:
Network nic2, Device eth1, IP 10.128.0.31
Network nic3, Device eth2, IP 10.129.0.31
You must choose 1 of these networks to use while running the SFS system
in portals compatibility mode.
Choose one of the following networks: nic2,nic3 (or Cancel) [nic2]:
If you do not want to enable the Portals compatibility mode now, type no; the screen output then
displays the commands that you will need to run if you later want to enable the Portals
compatibility mode:
Do you want to enable portals compatibility mode [yes]:no
You can enable portals compatibility mode at a later time
by doing the following:
o Unmount all of the filesystems on all client nodes
o Stop all filesystems
o Enter the sfsmgr modify filesystem command and use the Change
Interconnect option to choose a single interconnect.
o Enter the following command to enable portals compatibility
mode:
sfs> set attribute portals.compatibility=yes
o Start all filesystems
o Mount all of the filesystems on all client nodes
When you have completed the procedures in this section, the database is automatically updated, and you
are prompted to configure the administration server.
If your system uses EVA storage, proceed to Section 8.3.10 to set the preferred controller for the LUNs.
If your system uses SFS20 storage, proceed to Section 8.3.11 to configure the administration server.
8.3.10 Step 10: Setting the preferred controller (EVA storage only)
To determine if this step is necessary, enter the show lun lun_number command for each LUN used in
a file system and determine whether a preferred controller has been set for the LUN. (If the preferred
controller field contains a dash (-), no preferred controller has been set for the LUN.)
If a preferred controller has been set for each of the LUNs used in your file systems, you can skip this section
and proceed to Section 8.3.11 to configure the administration server.
If the preferred controller has not been set for each of the LUNs used in your file systems, refer to
Chapter 5 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide and use the information provided
in the section titled Step 3: Setting roles, preferred controllers, and disk group information for LUNs–
EVA4000 storage to determine the controller that each LUN must use.
