HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2
Step 16: Installing the license file 7–35
• If the existing license file does not contain all of the increments provided by the license files
from HP, you must update the existing license file. Do not complete the steps in this section;
instead, use the instructions provided in Chapter 3 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File
Share System User Guide to edit the license file.
• If the existing license file contains all of the increments provided by the license files from HP,
and does not contain any additional increments, proceed to Step 6.
3. Save the license files that you received from HP in a convenient directory on a host that can be
accessed by the HP SFS system.
4. Copy the MDS or MDS+OST license that you received from HP onto the administration server by
entering the command shown in the following example on the administration server. In this example,
16.123.123.25 is the host where the license file was saved, fred is an account on that system,
and /home/fred/mds-license-save.txt is where the license file was saved:
# scp fred@16.123.123.25:/home/fred/mds-license-save.txt \
/var/flexlm/license.master
The /var/flexlm/license.master file will now look similar to the following:
SERVER this_host ANY
USE_SERVER
VENDOR HPQ
INCREMENT SFSMDSCAP HPQ 1.0 permanent 1 HOSTID="000bcd505cbb \
000bcd827644" NOTICE="License Number U5ACHDYTDYEH" \
SIGN=2032F2009120
5. If you have no OST licenses, you can skip this step.
Extract the line containing the word INCREMENT from each of the OST license files and append this
line to the /var/flexlm/license.master file.
Do not simply append the whole of an OST license file to the /var/flexlm/license.master
file. If you do so, the file will have repetitions of the SERVER, USE_SERVER and VENDOR lines. There
must be only one of each of these lines in the file.
The /var/flexlm/license.master file will now look similar to the following. In this example,
there are two OST licenses (one for 100TB, the other for 50TB):
SERVER this_host ANY
USE_SERVER
VENDOR HPQ
INCREMENT SFSMDSCAP HPQ 1.0 permanent 1 HOSTID="000bcd505cbb \
000bcd827644" NOTICE="License Number U5ACHDYTDYEH" \
SIGN=2032F2009120
INCREMENT SFSOSTCAP HPQ 1.0 permanent 100 HOSTID="000bcd505cbb \
000bcd827644" NOTICE="License Number U5ACHDYTDYEG" \
SIGN=26881A834B26
INCREMENT SFSOSTCAP HPQ 1.0 permanent 50 HOSTID="000bcd505cbb \
000bcd827644" NOTICE="License Number U5ACHDYTDYDD" \
SIGN=26881A7E9B26
6. Enter the accept license command, as follows. The terms and conditions of the license are
displayed, and you are prompted to accept them:
# sfsmgr
.
.
.
sfs> accept license
.
.
.
(Terms and conditions)
.
.
.
Do you accept these terms [yes/no]:
