HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

Installing the servers — SFS20 storage7–24
*** Server States *** Completed: south1
sfs>
For information on errors that may be returned from the configure array array_number
command, see Section J.6 in Appendix J.
NOTE: The configure array array_number command starts the RAID parity initialization process on
the array. Performance of an array is not optimal until parity initialization is complete.
When you have finished configuring the arrays attached to the administration server, proceed to Section 7.8
to configure the administration server.
7.8 Step 8: Configuring the administration server
To configure the administration server, perform the following tasks:
1. Confirm the SFS20 storage configuration (see Section 7.8.1).
2. Complete the configuration of the administration server (see Section 7.8.2).
7.8.1 Confirming the SFS20 storage configuration
To confirm that the SFS20 storage attached to the administration server has been configured correctly, enter
the following command:
sfs> show lun
LUN Array Role Used by Size(GB) Preferred Server Visible to
--- ----- ----- ---------- -------- ---------------- ----------
1 1 service south1 1 - localhost
2 1 adm south1 40 - localhost
3 1 mds - 690 south1 localhost
4 1 mds - 1401 south1 localhost
5 2 admspare - 40 - localhost
6 2 svcspare - 1 - localhost
7 2 mds - 690 south1 localhost
8 2 mds - 1401 south1 localhost
There must be one administration LUN (for the entire HP SFS system) and one service LUN (for the server
pair). The remaining LUNs on the arrays attached to the administration and MDS server pair must have their
role set to mds, admspare, or svcspare, as shown in the above example.
Proceed to Section 7.8.2 to complete the configuration of the administration server.
7.8.2 Completing the configuration of the administration server
To complete the configuration of the administration server, perform the following steps:
1. Enter the command shown in the following example:
sfs> configure server south1
This command configures the system automatically, by giving the server a name, configuring the
network interfaces, and configuring and starting cluster services including the administration (admin)
service. The administration service mounts the administration (adm) LUN and starts the database
server and other administration processes.
2. Verify that the configuration has completed successfully by running the following tests:
a. Verify that the site network is operating, by ensuring that you can ping other hosts on the site
network from the administration server, and that you can ping the administration server from
hosts on the site network.
