When you have verified that the firmware versions are correct, proceed to Section 7.7.2 to configure
the storage arrays for the administration server.
7.7.2 Configuring the SFS20 storage arrays for the administration server
To configure the SFS20 storage arrays for the administration server, perform the following steps:
1. Use the information provided in Section 5.3 to determine how you need to configure the arrays
attached to the administration and MDS servers to support your file system requirements.
2. When you have finished planning your storage configuration, start the sfsmgr utility.
3. At the sfs> prompt, enter the show array command to display details of the storage arrays
attached to the administration server, as shown in the following example:
sfs> show array
Array Type Array (WWID) Disks Free Server
----- ------- ----------------- ----- ----- ---------------
1 MSA20 P6C8CX7MQPS7X6 12 12 south[1-2]
2 MSA20 P6C8CX7MQPS7TU 12 12 south[1-2]
Because the arrays in this example are not yet configured, all disks are shown as free disks (that is,
the value in the Free field is the same as the value in the Disks field). If the value in the Free field
is not the same as the value in the Disks field, the array is already configured.
Proceed as follows:
If the arrays are not yet configured (that is, all disks are shown as free disks), proceed to Step 4.
In a new HP SFS system, the arrays may already have been configured.
If the arrays are already configured with your desired configuration, skip the remaining
steps in this section and proceed to Section 7.8 to configure the administration server.
If the existing configuration is not suitable for your requirements and you do not need to
keep any existing data on the arrays (as would normally be the case with a new
installation), unconfigure the arrays before proceeding to Step 4 in this section.
For information on how to unconfigure an SFS20 array, refer to Chapter 3 of the HP
StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide.
4. Review the information provided in Appendix J to familiarize yourself with the syntax of the
configure array array_number command and to determine the command options that you
will need to use to configure your planned storage requirements.
For example:
The following example configures arrays 1 and 2 to support one file system:
sfs> configure array 1,2
The following example configures arrays 1 and 2 to support two file systems (one large file
system and one smaller file system):
sfs> configure array 1,2 luns_size=33%,all
