HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2
Step 4: Configuring the system parameters 7–19
7.4.4 Entering management network information
The management network is a dedicated, private network that connects all servers in the HP SFS system.
The Management Network menu presents default parameters for this network, which you can normally
accept.
However, if your site network or Gigabit Ethernet interconnect already uses the 192.168 subnet, you will
need to change the parameters for the management network. In such cases, HP recommends that you use
the 10.0 subnet for the management network.
Use the Management Network menu to enter the information that you gathered in your preinstallation
planning in Section 2.6 and recorded in the worksheet in Table B-6.
Example 7-10 shows the Management Network menu in a typical configured system.
Example 7-10 Management Network menu example
Management Network -----------------------------------------------------
The management network is a private, dedicated, network that connects
all servers in the system. In most systems you should accept the default
values in this section and proceed to the next section.
1) Management Network Start IP 192.168.8.1
2) Management Network Netmask 255.255.0.0
3) Network device (NIC) attached to management network eth0
4) IP Alias on management network 192.168.0.1
5) ILO Start IP 192.168.16.1
Proceed to Section 7.4.5 to enter the iLO information.
7.4.5 Entering iLO information
Use the iLO Access menu to enter the iLO user name and the iLO password (common to all servers) that
you configured on each server in Section 7.2 and recorded in the worksheet in Table B-6 in Appendix B.
Example 7-11 shows the iLO Access menu in a system where the common iLO password has been
defined as secret.
Example 7-11 iLO Access menu
iLO Access -------------------------------------------------------------
The system uses the Integrated Lights Out (iLO) board to power on and
off servers. To access the iLO boards, the system must know the name
and password of each iLO. This information is printed on a label located
on top of each server.
You can verify that the system can discover the iLO boards by choosing
the List unassigned iLOs option. However, none will be shown until you
have completed the process of configuring the Admin server. You can
return to this section later when you have completed that process.
1) ILO User Name Administrator
2) ILO Password secret
NOTE: The iLO names and passwords on the printed labels on the servers are not used in
HP SFS Version 2.2.
Proceed to Section 7.4.6 to enter the storage information.
