HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2
Installing the servers — SFS20 storage7–16
The vib value is valid for the InfiniBand Interconnect
Enter the Type of network [vib]:
Once you specify the IP address of the Admin server the remaining
servers are assigned an IP address by incrementing this IP address.
Enter the Start IP (e.g. 1.2.3.4 or None) [None]: 172.32.0.1
Enter the Netmask [255.255.255.0]:
Enter the MTU [1500]:
Enter the partition key used when creating the InfiniBand switch partition.
The partiton key must be entered as a hex number e.g. 0xf1f1.
Enter the Partition Key (e.g. 0xf1f1 or None) [0xffff]:
The IB Interface (ipoib0) configuration is
Type of network vib
Start IP 172.32.0.1
Netmask 255.255.255.0
MTU 1500
Partition Key 0xffff
Is this correct? [yes]: yes
When you have finished configuring the ipoib0 device, the Configure InfiniBand Interconnect
menu is displayed again. Proceed as follows:
• If your InfiniBand interconnect has been partitioned to isolate client systems sharing the interconnect,
enter 2 on the
Configure InfiniBand Interconnect menu and proceed to Section 7.4.2.4 to add
an IB Interface for each remaining InfiniBand partition where the HP SFS system will be used.
• If your InfiniBand interconnect has not been partitioned to isolate client systems sharing the
interconnect, enter n to exit the
Configure InfiniBand Interconnect menu, then enter n to exit
the Configure Quadrics Interconnect menu and proceed to Section 7.4.3 to enter the site
network information.

If the InfiniBand interconnect has not been partitioned to isolate client systems sharing the interconnect, skip
this section.
If the InfiniBand interconnect has been partitioned to isolate client systems sharing the interconnect, you must
add an InfiniBand interface (IB Interface) for each InfiniBand partition where the HP SFS system will
be used. When you add an InfiniBand interface, a virtual ipoibN device is created.
NOTE: When you first configure an InfiniBand interface for a partition, you specify the IP address in the
partition for the first server in the system. The system software assumes that the IP addresses for all of the
servers in the system are contiguous, and assigns the IP addresses accordingly. However, you can later
change the IP addresses of individual servers. The process for doing this is described in Chapter 7 of the
HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide.
To add a new IB Interface, enter 2 on the
Configure InfiniBand Interconnect menu. When
prompted, enter the information for the new InfiniBand interface that you gathered in your preinstallation
planning in Section 2.4 and recorded in the worksheet in Table B-3.
Example 7-7 shows an example of configuring an InfiniBand interface (ipoibN).
