3. As no file systems have yet been configured, the MDS server is not running an MDS service. However,
the MDS server must be capable of taking over from the administration server, if that server should
fail.
To verify that the MDS server is capable of taking over from the administration server, log in to the
MDS server using the ssh utility, enter the sfsmgr(8) command to start the SFS CLI, and then
perform the following tests:
a. Enter the following command to show the status of the servers:
sfs> show server
Name State Power Services
---------- ------- -------- ----------
south1 running on admin
south2 running on none
b. Shut down the administration server, as shown in the following example:
sfs> shutdown server south1
c. While you are waiting for the administration server to shut down, you can enter the show
server command repeatedly to show the status of the servers. When the administration server
has completely shut down, the status of the servers will be as shown in the following example:
sfs> show server
Name State Power Services
---------- ------- -------- ----------
south1 power-off off none
south2 running on admin
The MDS server (south2) is now running the administration function.
d. Turn on the power to the administration server, as shown in the following example:
sfs> boot server south1
e. Enter the show server command again to verify that the administration server boots correctly
and takes over the administration service again.
Proceed to Section 6.16 to back up the system database.
6.16 Step 16: Backing up the system database
At this point, back up the system database by entering the following command:
sfs> create database_backup
Proceed to Section 6.17 to obtain the license information.
