HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2
Installing the servers — EVA4000 storage6–14
• If your system uses a Myrinet interconnect only, no configuration is needed. When you have
configured the interface for your site network, select the Next Section option, and proceed to
Section 6.8.3.
6.8.2.1 Configuring Gigabit Ethernet networks
CAUTION: If more than one Gigabit Ethernet network is used, each interface must be on a separate
logical network. (In some cases, the networks may also be physically separate, but this is not a
requirement.)
NOTE: When you first configure a Gigabit Ethernet network, you specify the IP address on the network for
the first server in the system. The system software assumes that the IP addresses for all of the servers in the
system are contiguous, and assigns the IP addresses accordingly. However, you can later change the
IP addresses of individual servers. The process for doing this is described in Chapter 7 of the
HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide.
Example 6-3 shows the Configure Gigabit Ethernet Networks menu. The menu lists the interfaces
to the Gigabit Ethernet networks that have been detected. The management network interface is not shown.
Example 6-3 Configure Gigabit Ethernet Networks menu
Configure Gigabit Ethernet Networks --------------------------------------------
This section is used to configure the Gigabit Ethernet networks, excluding
the Management Network. If configured on all servers, these networks can be
used as an interconnect to client systems. If not configured on all servers,
these networks are only configured on the Administration and MDS servers and
are used to connect to your site network. If you do not want to configure the
Gigabit Ethernet networks you can proceed to the next section.
Use the Add a Bonded Network device option if you want to add a bonded device.
Use the Delete a Bonded Network device option if you want to delete a bonded device.
Note: a network device is marked as Unused if a Start IP for the
network has not been entered. Once a Start IP is entered the device
is marked as Inuse.

Enter your choice [a]:
In this example, only one Gigabit Ethernet network has been detected. Accept the default (a) to select the
option to configure each network in turn, or select the interface for the network you want to configure.
(If you want to proceed to the next menu, enter n.)
The Network Device menu is displayed, where you can enter the information for a network (the
information that you gathered in your preinstallation planning in Section 2.4 and recorded in the worksheet
in Table B-2). As explained in the introductory text on the menu, if you specify that a network is not to be
configured on all networks, the network is only configured on the administration server and the MDS server.
When you have finished configuring the networks, the Configure Gigabit Ethernet Networks
menu is displayed again. At this point, enter n to select the option to proceed to the next menu.
Example 6-4 shows an example of configuring a Gigabit Ethernet network on the Network Device menu.
