HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2

Configuring the storage5–18
Figure 5-4 Create a Vdisk Family page
The name that you enter on this page is the name given to the virtual disk family. The Active
member of a virtual disk family is the virtual disk that is accessed by one or more servers for storage.
The Active member of a virtual disk family and its snapshot, if one exists, constitute a virtual disk
family.
The two OST virtual disks on the array must be in different disk groups, and preferred to different
controllers. In the example shown here, the ostA virtual disk is created in disk group Group 1, and
preferred to controller A (specified in the Preferred path/mode field on the Create a Vdisk
Family page); the second OST virtual disk will be created in disk group Group 2 and preferred to
controller B.
3. When you have entered the information for the virtual disk, click the Finish button.
Figure 5-5 shows the Vdisk Active Member Properties page with the details of the ostA virtual disk.

4. Click the Save changes button to save the information.
Repeat the steps in this section until you have created all of the virtual disks (on all of the arrays) that you
need for use as LUNs in the HP SFS system. Record this information in the EVA4000 array worksheet for
each array (see Table B-9 in Appendix B).
Proceed to Chapter 6 to install and configure the servers.
