HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide Version 2.2
Configuring the storage5–16
5.2.5.2 Step 2: Recording EVA4000 array WWIDs
When you later install and configure the HP SFS system (as described in Chapter 6), the system discovers
which EVA4000 arrays are connected to the system’s servers. The system can identify arrays using their
WWID. In addition, as described in Section 5.1.1, the system assigns a unique number to each EVA4000
array as it is discovered.
To understand the relationship between the WWID, the array number, and the array itself when you are
configuring storage for the servers, you need to identify the WWID of each array. The WWID of each array
is displayed on the Initialized Storage System Properties page for the array. Record this information in the
EVA4000 array worksheet for each array (see Table B-9 in Appendix B).
Proceed to Section 5.2.5.3 to configure the disk groups.
5.2.5.3 Step 3: Configuring disk groups
One default disk group is created when the array is initialized. You must create a second disk group, and
(optionally) rename the default disk group to a more meaningful name.
Configure the disk groups, as follows:
1. In the Navigation pane, select the default disk group for an array.
2. On the Disk Group Properties page, change the name of the default disk group (for example, rename
the group to Group 1), then click the Save changes button to save your changes.
3. In the Navigation pane, select the Disk Groups entry, then click the Create Disk Group button on
the Content pane.
4. Enter the information for the disk group, then click the Save changes button to save your changes.
Note that the value of the Total disks field must be such that each disk group has the same
number of disks. Divide the disks on the array evenly between the two disk groups.
Repeat these steps to configure the disk groups on each of the storage arrays.
Figure 5-3 shows the Disk Group Properties page for a disk group called Group 2.

Proceed to Section 5.2.5.4 to create the virtual disks.
