6 Verifying Component Firmware
You must verify that the HP SFS system has the correct firmware before you start a software
installation.
Note:
Refer to the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System User Guide to obtain the current firmware
version number. If an upgrade is necessary, obtain the most recent firmware and its installation
instructions from the Web site provided in that manual.
6.1 Verifying ProLiant Firmware
This section discusses how to verify that the ProLiant DL360 or ProLiant DL380 has the correct
firmware installed.
6.1.1 Verifying ROM Firmware
Verify that the ProLiant DL360 or ProLiant DL380 BIOS (system ROM firmware) is the correct
version.
Note:
The firmware version for each server must be checked individually.
To verify server firmware version, follow these steps:
1. Select the Admin, MDS, or Object Storage Server to be monitored at the KVM switch.
Note:
You must connect each Object Storage Server to the KVM switch to check the ROM firmware
version.
2. After powering on a server, press the F9 key when prompted during the startup sequence
to start the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU).
3. Obtain the firmware version from the RBSU main menu.
4. Press F9 to exit the RBSU.
5. Press F10 to confirm exiting the RBSU.
6.1.2 Verifying iLO Firmware
To verify the ProLiant DL360 or DL380 iLO firmware version, follow these steps:
1. Select the Admin, MDS, or Object Storage Server to be monitored at the KVM switch.
Note:
You must connect each Object Storage Server to the KVM switch to check the iLO firmware
version.
2. At the second request during the power-on, start-up phase, press the F8 key.
3. Obtain the iLO firmware version from the Status window.
6.2 Verifying ProCurve Switch Firmware
You can determine the ProCurve Switch firmware version with either the command line interfce
(CLI) or the menu interface by setting up a serial connection to the switch console or through a
Telnet session to the switch. In a default configuration, the switch console starts at the CLI prompt.
