HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share for SFS20 Enclosure Hardware Installation Guide Version 2.2

Note:
The ProCurve Switch is installed in the rack with its back side facing the front of the rack.
2.4.2 HP ProCurve Switch 2650
The HP ProCurve switch has 48 dual-speed ports that are spread across the front panel. To the
right is a pair of fixed triple-speed copper gigabit ports, and below these are two mini-GBIC slots
that accept fiber-optic cables. These are referred to as dual-personality ports because you can
use either the copper port or the corresponding fiber-optic port. Only two can be in action at any
one time. By default, the RJ-45 connectors are enabled. If a mini-GBIC is installed in a slot, it is
enabled and the associated RJ-45 connector is disabled. If the mini-GBIC is removed, the associated
RJ-45 port is automatically re-enabled.

The characteristics of the HP ProCurve 2650 switch include the following:
Forty-eight 10/100 ports
Two gigabit link ports
10/100 auto-sensing per port, which automatically detects and sets the speed for any 10Base-T
or 100Base-TX device
MDI/MDI-X cascade port, which makes it easy to add other hubs to the network
LED display with per-port indicators
Automatic polarity correction and autopartitioning on all ports
Built-in bridge that automatically connects 10 Mb/s and 100 Mb/s devices
The HP ProCurve 2650 switch has a power connector, but it does not have a power switch. It is
powered on when connected to an active AC power source. The switch automatically adjusts to
any voltage between 100 volts and 240 volts (50–60 Hz). No voltage range settings are required.
The console port on the back of the ProCurve 2650 switch (Figure 2-15 “HP ProCurve Switch
Rear View”) connects the switch to a console via a serial cable. The console can be a PC or a
workstation running a VT-100 terminal emulator.
