HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share for SFS20 Enclosure Hardware Installation Guide Version 2.2

2.4.1 HP ProCurve Switch 2626
The ProCurve Switch 2626 has the following characteristics:
Twenty-four 10/100 autosensing ports, which automatically detect and set the speed for any
10Base-T or 100Base-T device ports
Two Gigabit link ports (used in an HP SFS configuration for the MDS and administration
servers and the ISL if there are multiple ProCurve Switches)
LED display with per-port indicators
Automatic polarity correction and autopartitioning on all ports
Built-in bridge that automatically connects 10 Mb/s and 100 Mb/s devices
2.4.1.1 HP ProCurve Switch 2626 Ports
The ProCurve Switch has 24, 10/100 dual-speed ports that are spread across the front panel. To
the right is a pair of fixed 10/100/1000 triple-speed copper Gigabit ports (ports 25 and 26). Below
the Gigabit ports are two mini-GBIC slots that accept fiber-optic cables. Ports 25 and 26 and the
mini-GBIC slots are referred to as dual-personality ports because you can use either the Gigabit
port or the corresponding fiber-optic port. Only two of the four ports can be in action at any one
time. By default, the RJ-45 Gigabit connectors are enabled. If a mini-GBIC is installed in a slot,
it is enabled and the associated RJ-45 connector is disabled. If the mini-GBIC is removed, the
associated RJ-45 port is automatically reenabled.
Figure 2-12 “HP ProCurve Switch 2626 Front View” shows a front view of the ProCurve Switch
2626, which faces the rear of the cabinet.

The top row of the ProCurve Switch ports are used mostly for the Object Storage Server iLO
connections. The bottom row of ports are for Object Storage Server NIC1 connections. The Gigabit
ports are used for MDS and administration server NIC1 connections and the interswitch link (if
there are multiple ProCurve Switches).
For more detailed information about ProCurve Switch wiring, see Appendix A “Wiring Tables”.
2.4.1.2 Port LED View Select Button and Indicator LEDs
To optimize the amount of information that can be displayed for each of the switch ports without
overwhelming you with LEDs, the ProCurve Switch uses a single LED for each port. The operation
of this LED is controlled by the Port LED View select button, and the current setting is indicated
by the Port LED View indicator LEDs near the button. Press the button to step from one view
mode to the next. The Port LED View has the following indicator lights:
If the Link (Lnk) indicator LED is lit, each port LED displays link information for the
associated port. If the port LED is in Link mode and it is blinking, the port has failed its self
test. The Fault and Self-Test LEDs will be blinking simultaneously.
If the Activity (Act) indicator LED is lit, each port LED displays activity information for the
associated port it flickers as network traffic is received and transmitted through the port.
