HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share for SFS20 Enclosure Hardware Installation Guide Version 2.2
About This Manual
This manual describes how to assemble and install an HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share
system using the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share 20 Enclosure for storage.
Read this entire manual and the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share Release Notes before beginning
the installation. Familiarity with the general sequence of installation steps can save time and
prevent problems.
This manual does not describe the procedures and tools that are required to install and configure
the HP SFS system software. For more information on the HP SFS20 Enclosure software, see the
manuals listed under “Related Documentation”.
This manual does not cover installation planning or unpacking and assembling the racks. That
information is covered in the Cluster Platform Site Preparation Guide.
Note:
The Cluster Platform Site Preparation Guide is specific to the cluster platforms in that it provides
an overview of cluster platforms and provides some cluster platform specific information.
You can use the Installation Planning and Unpacking and Assembling the Racks chapters with
the HP SFS product. Just ignore those parts that are specific to other platforms. Also, the Cluster
Platform Site Preparation Guide allows for four connections to building power per rack. In an HP
SFS configuration there are three power connections per rack.
Furthermore, this manual limits detailed information and procedures for cluster components
that have their own documentation, such as the servers, network switches, and system racks. In
most cases, this manual contains references to the original component documentation, except
where information or procedures for the HP SFS differ from the standalone components. In these
cases, the HP SFS documentation supersedes information supplied in existing component
documentation.
