Restoring a sm
art cell
To restore da
ta on a failed smart cell, you need at least one free sm art cell. If only one smart cell in a
group failed, then clone a smart cell instead. See Smartcell Cloning on page 63 for more information
about cloning.
To restore a smart cell, the following conditions must be met:
• The smart cel
ldomainhasDataBackupEnabled=true set in the Domain.jcml configuration file.
• The smart cell group must have been assigned in this system at some time.
• The smart cell must be marked as missing in the View Cell State table, or no record of the cell’s
existence a
ppears in the View Cell State table.
View Cell State is located under Service Tools in the PCC’s left menu. It ca n only be accessed if you
log in to the PCC as the super user.
Rebuilding the index on the smart cell takes a significant a mount of time, depending on the amount of
data that i
sbeingrestored.
If both sma
rt cells in a g roup failed, perform the following procedure:
1. In the View
Cell Space view, scroll to the Unaffiliated smar t cells area, and verify that at least one
free smart cell exi sts.
2. Locate the primary controller:
a. Click one
of the links in the MetaServer table.
The Agent view appears.
b. From the MBean list, click ProvisionerM Bean.
The MBean
view appears.
c. Verify that the ProvisionerMasterBackupStatus attribute is set to Master Provisioner.
If the attribute is set to Backup Provisioner, return to the View Cell Space view, click the link to
the othe
r meta server, and repeat the previous steps.
