HP XP7 Performance Advisor v6.1 Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide
HP XP7 Performance Advisor dispatches Good Information alarm notifications, which is a Recovery
Alarm. Good Information email notification is sent, if the performance collection value goes below
the set threshold value.
I've provided the new threshold values for an alarm record on the Alarms screen. However, the
threshold values are not updated. What is the procedure to update threshold values for an alarm
record?
You must select the check box for an alarm record, for which you want to update the alarm
configuration settings (includes setting threshold values). After updating the values, click Edit for
the changes to take effect. The alarm configuration settings are not updated for an alarm record,
if you do not select the corresponding check box.
What does the following error message indicate?
One or more threshold values are not proper (Threshold 1 <= Threshold
2 <= Threshold 3 <= 999999)
This error message is displayed when one or more threshold values are not properly set. The value
that you set as threshold level 3 should be greater than or equal to the value that you set as threshold
level 2. Similarly, the value that you set as threshold level 2 should be greater than or equal to the
value that you set as threshold level 1.
What is the description for Error Code 3, Error Code 6, and Error Code 0, and when are they
displayed?
The following error codes are displayed under Alarms+Alarms History in the Email Status, SNMP
Status, and Script Status text boxes in the following scenarios:
• Error Code 3: Displayed when the source SMTP server IP address or host name and the port
address, or the SNMP server IP address provided under Settings+PA Settings is incorrect. It
is also displayed if there are errors in the alarm script files (xml files).
• Error Code 0: Displayed when the alarm notifications and traps are dispatched, and scripts
executed without any errors.
Error Code 6: Displayed under Alarms+Alarms History in the Email Status and SNMP Status text
boxes when the source email address specified under Alarms+Alarms Configuration or Settings+PA
Settings is invalid. It can also be displayed when the SNMP server fails to dispatch the trap to the
intended SNMP trap destination.
Charts
NOTE: The following FAQs are on enhancements or new features introduced in Charts from v4.5
onwards. Therefore, these FAQs are not applicable to HP XP7 Performance Advisor versions prior
to v4.5.
How to improve performance of HP XP7 Performance Advisor when plotting charts for large number
of resources?
Before plotting charts for large number of resources (for example, more than 100 resources) and
for a large data range, clear the following selections in the Chart Work Area:
• The Show Data Points check box
• The Show Zoom check box
Also, split the resources across multiple chart windows. You can achieve this by adding new chart
windows in the Chart Work Area, and plotting the performance graphs of a subset of resources
in the new chart windows. To add new chart windows, complete the following steps:
How to apply different time range for different charts in the Chart Work Area?
