HP XP7 Performance Advisor v6.1 Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide

Yes. You can collect real-time performance data and view real-time graphs for multiple XP and
XP7 disk arrays. However, ensure that the real-time data collections are happening through
dedicated host agents.
For example, if host agent_A and host agent_B are connected to both XP disk array_1 and XP disk
array_2, initiate a real-time data collection on XP disk array_1 through host agent_A and on XP
disk array_2 through host agent_B. You cannot use host agent_A to collect real-time data for both
XP disk array_1 and XP disk array_2.
Can I initiate multiple instances of real-time data collections for an XP or an XP7 disk array, or
multiple XP and XP7 disk arrays using the same host agent?
No. You cannot initiate another instance of real-time data collection using a host agent that is
already collecting real-time data for an XP or an XP7 disk array. At a time, a host agent can only
handle one instance of real-time data collection.
If an XP or an XP7 disk array is connected to two host agents, is it possible to simultaneously initiate
real-time data collections on the XP or XP7 disk array through both the host agents?
Yes. It is possible to initiate real-time data collections on the XP or XP7 disk array through both the
host agents, as each host agent will still be handling only one instance of real-time data collection.
Can I use a host agent for real-time data collection, if the real-time server is getting updated on
that host agent?
No. Wait for the real-time server update to complete, if you want to use the same host agent for
a real-time data collection.
Can I save a real-time chart for my future reference?
No. There is no option to save real-time charts.
Can I view historic data for an XP or XP7 disk array using the real-time charting functionality?
No. Real-time charting functionality can only be used to view the point in time data for your XP or
XP7 disk array. If you want to view the historic data, use the Charts functionality provided by HP
XP7 Performance Advisor.
When real-time charting is in progress, will it be impacted by either configuration or performance
data collections that are happening simultaneously?
No. When real time collection is in progress for an XP or an XP7 disk array through a host agent,
you can still initiate configuration and performance data collections on the same XP or XP7 disk
array through the same host agent, provided you select a different command device. You can also
select a different host agent for the configuration and performance data collections.
Why are XP10000 and XP20000 type disk arrays not listed under Select Components on the
RealTimeCharting screen?
The XP10000 and XP20000 type disk arrays are not displayed under Select Components, as the
real-time charting is supported only for XP24000 or XP12000 type disk arrays.
Why are ports and DKC not available for selection under Select Components on the RealTimeCharting
screen for an XP or an XP7 disk array?
The ports and DKC are not available for selection, as real-time data collection and charting is only
supported for the LDEVs and RAID groups.
Do RAID groups and LDEVs also include external RAID groups and virtual volumes?
No. RAID groups and LDEVs for an XP or an XP7 disk array in the real-time charting context do
not include external RAID groups, ThP, continuous access, and snapshot virtual volumes.
How many RAID groups and LDEVs can I select for real-time charting? Can these resources be
selected across XP and XP7 disk arrays?
