HP XP7 Performance Advisor v6.1 Software Troubleshooting and FAQs Guide

To verify if HP XP7 Performance Advisor is installed on the management station, check the following:
1. If the following services are available:
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database Job Scheduler
By default, this service is disabled.
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database Listener
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database VSS Writer
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Monitor
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Security
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Tomcat
2. If the software for HP XP7 Performance Advisor is listed in the Add/Remove Programs.
3. If the Oracle directories exist at the following registry key locations, as the Oracle patch
installer queries these registry keys:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE is the registry key.
inst_loc: is the name of the registry entry and its value will give the location of the
Oracle inventory.
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_XP_PA_DB is the registry key.
ORACLE_BASE is the name of the registry entry and its value will give the location of the
Oracle base.
ORACLE_HOME is the name of the registry entry and its value will give the location of the
Oracle home.
Error message: The Oracle patch installer for HP XP7 Performance Advisor Software was unable
to query the location of Oracle inventory. The installation wizard will exit now. For more information
on troubleshooting Oracle patch installation issues, see the HP XP7 Performance Advisor Install
Guide available on Disk 1.
Refer to the description and resolution provided for the previous error message.
Error message: The Oracle patch application library for HP XP7 Performance Advisor Software
could not be initialized. The installation wizard will exit now. For more information on
troubleshooting Oracle patch installation issues, see the HP XP7 Performance Advisor Install Guide
available on Disk 1.
The reason might be that Oracle patch application library could not be initialized properly.
Resolution: For further assistance, contact your HP Support representative along with the
opatch<timestamp>.log, <MachineName>_<timestamp>_OraclePatch.log, and
catbundle_WINBUNDLE_PADB_APPLY_<timestamp>.log files.
Error message: One or more services for HP XP7 Performance Advisor Software did not stop. The
installation wizard will exit now. Rerun the patch installer after stopping the services from the
services control manager. For more information on the complete list of services to stop, see the HP
XP7 Performance Advisor Install Guide available on Disk 1.
During the Oracle patch installation process, one or more XP7 services might not stop as expected.
Resolution: Before attempting to re-run the patch installer, stop the following services:
• Distributed Transaction Co-ordinator
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database Job Scheduler
• HP XP7 Performance Advisor Database Listener
