HP StorageWorks XP Performance Advisor Software v4.6 User and Troubleshooting Guide (T1789-96094, June 2010)

The DKP is the name for a micro processor located on the DKA.
DKU Disk Unit
The DKU is the XP array's hardware that houses the XP disk array's physical
Hard Disk Drive (HDD).
Emulation Modes The logical devices (LDEVs) associated with each RAID group are assigned an
emulation mode that makes them operate like OPEN system disk drives. The
emulation mode determines the size of an LDEV.
OPEN-3: 2.46 GB
OPEN-8: 7.38 GB
OPEN-9: 7.42 GB
OPEN-E: 13.56 GB
OPEN-K: (Not available on this array)
OPEN-L: 36 GB
OPEN-M: (Not available on this array)
OPEN-V: User-defined custom size
External Storage An external storage that is connected to an XP disk array.
FC Fibre Channel
HDD Hard Disk Drive
Host Group A group of hosts that belong to a particular WWN group.
Inband data
collection
A method of collecting configuration data for an XP disk array using a command
device that is presented to a host operating system.
LDEV Logical device
An LDEV is created when a RAID group is divided into smaller partitions or
volumes according to the selected host emulation mode (that is, OPEN-3, OPEN-8,
OPEN-9). The number of resulting LDEVs depends on the selected emulation
mode. The term LDEV is often used synonymously with the term Volume.
LUN Logical Unit Number
A LUN is created by mapping a SCSI logical unit number, port ID, and an LDEV
ID to a RAID group. It is always associated with a single LDEV and presented to
a host. The optional LUSE feature allows a LUN to be associated with 1 to 36
LDEVs. Thereby, enabling for applications to access a single large pool of storage.
LUSE Logical Unit Size Expansion
The LUSE is a feature on the XP disk array that can be used to combine multiple,
identical LDEVs into a single, larger LDEV.
MIX boards A MIX board is a circuit board in the disk control unit that includes disk adapters
and channel adapters. It is used for interfacing disk drives and the host to cache
memory.
PVOL Primary Volume (also seen with a hyphen as P-VOL)
Primary volume of a paired volume set for any program product other than those
used for remote copy operations.
R/W Read/Write (r/w) operations
