You can visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000/en-us for details on using Disk
Management. Though the information and steps provided are for using Disk Management
on Windows XP, the same steps are applicable on Windows 2003 host agent. (Windows
XP is not a supported host agent for XP Performance Advisor.)
4. Restart XP Performance Advisor host agent services. For example, <install directory>:\
Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\xppa\hostagent\sbin>xppa restart.
5. On the management station, launch XP Performance Advisor and click Array View in the left
pane.
6. Click the Host Information tab and select the host for which you want receive an update.
7. Click Request Info.
8. Once the Status column shows Received for that host, click the Configuration Collection tab. All
the command devices on which GUID is created are appended with (GUID), like \\.\PHYSIC-
ALDRIVE6 (GUID).
9. All the XP Performance Advisor performance configuration and performance data collections
through the command device file names labeled with “(GUID)” string uses \\?\Volume {GUID}.
NOTE:
The following are important notes for accurate functioning of the Configuration and Performance
Data Collection Pre-requisites for Windows Operating System:
• The command device on which GUID is created needs to be mounted always, otherwise XP Per-
formance Advisor configuration and performance data collection may fail.
• When you create a GUID, you must request for the updated host information under the
Host Information tab. Otherwise the XP Performance Advisor configuration and performance
data collection may fail.
• If you delete a GUID partition and recreate it, you must request for updated host information under
the Host Information tab. Otherwise the XP Performance Advisor configuration and performance
data collection may fail.
• If GUID creation is successful and the command device is bad then XP Performance Advisor con-
figuration and performance data collection may fail.
