HP StorageWorks XP Performance Advisor Software v4.6 Release Notes (T1789-96097, June 2010)

The internal raw disk capacity received through the Inband mode of configuration data collection
is not accurate when compared to the value shown by RWC, and might lead to license violations.
HP recommends that you collect configuration data through the Inband mode only if the Outband
mode of configuration data collection is not supported on that XP Disk Array, or the SVP on the
XP Disk Array is not accessible.
If you are upgrading XP Performance Advisor v4.5 or v4.5.1 to v4.6, the existing email and alarm
notification settings are retained in the serverparameters.properties file after the upgrade
process is completed. They are also displayed on the Email Settings screen when you click Settings
> PA Settings in XP Performance Advisor.
Fixes
XP Performance Advisor v4.6 includes the following fixes:
Windows System authentication and Domain authentication options are available during XP Per-
formance Advisor installation on a Windows 2008 server management station.
While installing XP Performance Advisor on a Windows 2008 Server management station, the
Windows System Authentication or Domain Authentication were not available as authentication
options that you can select during the installation, even though the management station belonged
to a domain.
The following error message is no longer logged in the rc.log file when the real-time server
process (HP XP Performance Advisor Realtime Server) stops on a XP Performance
Advisor HP-UX 11.31 host:
ERROR: Failed to stop Realtime Server normally. Try to kill the pro-
cessNOTE: killing zombie jre thread xxxxNOTE: Realtime Server has
stopped
Windows host agent and XP Performance Advisor can coexist on the same server and does not
lead to data collection issues.
In addition to XP Performance Advisor, when the Windows host agent was installed on the man-
agement station, it was observed that the performance data collection stopped after two or more
data collection cycles for multiple XP disk arrays.
SQL exceptions are not displayed on the Event Log screen when alarms are not configured or
generated.
SQL exceptions were displayed on the Event Log screen even when alarms were not configured
or generated. However, they did not interrupt the functioning of XP Performance Advisor.
The XP Performance Advisor Windows host agent can be removed if it is installed in a location
of your choice and not in the following default installation location, <Install_drive>:\Program
Files\Hewlett-Packard\xppa\hostagent.
If XP Performance Advisor Windows host agent was installed in a location other than the above-
mentioned default installation location, it could not be removed earlier.
The XP Performance Advisor timezone cannot be found error is resolved.
During the XP Performance Advisor installation on a Windows 2008 server, a command prompt
used to appear displaying the timezone cannot be found error.
The CLUI LDEV command output displays the exact LDEV values.
The CLUI LDEV command rounded off the decimal values earlier. For example, 0.03.04 used to
be shown as 0.03.
Both Inband and OutBand mode of configuration data collections can be used to collect configur-
ation data from XP disk arrays of type XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, and XP10000.
