HP StorageWorks XP Performance Advisor Software v4.6 Release Notes (T1789-96097, June 2010)
performance graphs are plotted. For example, it takes about four minutes to plot the response time
metric graphs for a day's data pertaining to 158 resources.
Wait for XP Performance Advisor to plot the performance graphs completely before you switch to
the next task.
• If you want to print the charts that belong to the selected chart windows, use the File > Print on
your IE browser window.
• You can load only one favorite chart at a time.
• To launch XP Performance Advisor locally on a management station that is installed on a virtual
server, use the fully-qualified domain name ([server name].[domain name]) or the IP address
of that management station instead of the PA shortcut in the http URL – http://<fully
qualified domain name>/pa or http://<IP_address>/pa.
• You must wait for an Inband or OutBand configuration collection to complete before you initiate
another configuration collection, as it is not possible to reinitiate a configuration data collection
(observed in v4.5, v4.5.1, and v4.6).
• In the Alarm History screen, you might notice that the Alarm History filter, Error Status does not
filter the existing set of records for the selected error status.
• When you generate an Export DB report or schedule an Export DB report activity for an XP Disk
Array, the event type might be is displayed as Alarm Configuration for this activity on the Event
Log screen. However, it does not affect the progress of the report activity.
• After an InBand or Outband mode of configuration collection is performed for an XP Disk Array,
the names of the associated hosts might be displayed as Unknown in the Host column of the Data
Grid Update screen.
• When a manual purge or data archival process is active, occasionally, you might notice that the
management station may miss data samples received from the host agents.
• For XP disk arrays with concatenated parity groups, you might notice 4D+4D RAID type instead
of two 2D+2D concatenated parity groups in the Performance Estimator screen.
• While charting backend transfer metrics for DKAs or ACPs with concatenated RAID groups, you
might observe that the total write tracks do not match the sum of the individual DKC or ACP metrics.
• When an InBand configuration collection is initiated through a Windows IA64 based host, you
might notice that the collection takes more time (up to 90 minutes), especially in larger configura-
tions. Additionally, in such scenarios, there may be events logged indicating a failure in configur-
ation collection.
Workaround: HP recommends that you wait for a longer time before taking any action, in response
to such events.
• In the following condition, where:
• XPWatch is active on Advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX) v5.3 or later
• Multi-pathing (MPIO) is enabled on the AIX host agent
• Parameters, dyntrk is set to yes and fc_error is set to fast_fail
An error log is displayed on the console of the AIX host agent. The error log is also displayed
when you execute errpt –a from the Kernel of the AIX operating system. The following is an
excerpt of the error log:
LABEL: FSCSI_ERR10IDENTIFIER: 1FB4FD21Date/Time: Mon Aug 10 15:03:51
CDT 2009Sequence Number: 269527
You can ignore the error log, as it does not impact the XPWatch activities or the output it provides.
• After configuring SSL on a XP Performance Advisor Windows host agent, perform the following
additional steps to restart the HP XP Performance Advisor RealTime Server on the host
agent, as real-time service does not execute when SSL is being configured:
