8. Install or upgrade the XP Performance Advisor host agents on the respective operating system
hosts.
• If you are installing the XP Performance Advisor Windows or UNIX host agents, see the fol-

IMPORTANT:
Before proceeding with the installation or upgrade, ensure the following:
• You have completed all the prerequisites for installing or upgrading the XP Performance Advisor
host agents you just downloaded. If you want to review the prerequisites again, see Table
2 on page 16 and Table 7 on page 84.
• You are installing or upgrading to the appropriate version of the host agent, as the host agent
version should match with the version of XP Performance Advisor installed on your management
station.
Installing the XP Performance Advisor Windows host agents
This section describes installing the XP Performance Advisor Windows host agents. The installation

Executing the Windows host agent installer
1. Telnet to the remote host as a root user.
2. Navigate to the tmp directory or to the folder, where you have copied the host agent files.
3. Untar the host agent .tar file:
tar -xvf XPPA_HA_<os_name>.tar
4. Run the installation script: setup.exe
The Welcome installation window appears that takes you through the XP Performance Advisor
installation.
5. Click Next to proceed.
The Connection Settings installation window appears. For more information on the next set of
steps, “Enabling the Windows host agent for IPv6” on page 74.
