9 Modifying or repairing XP Performance
Advisor
After installing XP Performance Advisor or the host agents, you can structure the settings that you
selected during the installation.
Modifying XP Performance Advisor program features
You can modify the following XP Performance Advisor settings after installation:
• Selecting a different authentication method from the list
• Selecting or removing the XP Performance Advisor host agents and tools
For example, if you want to install a host agent that was not selected during the installation of XP
Performance Advisor, you can choose to modify the XP Performance Advisor settings.
To modify the current XP Performance Advisor program features:
1. Log in to your management station as a user with administrative privileges.
2. Insert the XP Performance Advisor Installation disk 1 into the DVD drive. If the installation wizard
does not start automatically, run PA_Server.exe from DVD 1.
The Welcome installation window appears.
3. Click Next.
4. Select Modify as the Program Maintenance type and click Next.
5. Select the authentication type that you want to implement for XP Performance Advisor users and
click Next. For more information, see “Implementing the authentication method” on page 50.
6. Select the program features that you want to install or remove, and click Next. For more
information, see “Selecting complete or custom installation method” on page 58.
7. Click Install on the Ready to Modify window.
The setup program transfers and removes application files (as appropriate) to, and from the
destination folder, and configures XP Performance Advisor. When prompted for the second disk,
insert the XP Performance Advisor Installation disk 2 in the DVD drive, and click OK to continue.
8. When the program features are modified, the Installation Complete window appears. Click Finish
to close the installation wizard.
Repairing XP Performance Advisor program features
To repair the current XP Performance Advisor program features:
1. Perform steps 1–3 mentioned for modifying XP Performance Advisor program features (see
Modifying XP Performance Advisor program features on page 103.
2. Select Repair as the Program Maintenance type and click Next.
