.HP StorageWorks XP Performance Advisor Software - Database Migration Utility 1.1.0 release notes (T1789-96077, April 2009)
batch script ensures that the remaining performance data points are converted to the new database
format.
5. Stop Solid.exe. Right click the Solid Embedded Engine application icon on the Task bar and
click Close in the pop-up menu. A dialog box appears confirming that the services have stopped.
6. Start Performance Advisor services (go to Start -> Programs -> HP Storage Works -> XP Perform-
ance Advisor -> Start services).
You can start the Performance Advisor services soon after the configuration and first ten data
points are migrated. Performance Advisor services need not be stopped to complete the conversion
of the remaining set of data points.
NOTE:
• During the process of converting the performance data points to the new format, ensure that
the Auto Grow checkbox on the Database - Configure screen is selected. This ensures that
the auto purging is stopped. While the existing data is upgraded to the new format, the new
data is also simultaneously added to the Performance Advisor v3.5 through v3.5.2 database
(based on the new PA version that you install on the management station).
• The execution of this command takes time, depending on the database size. Also, the database
file size increases and the timestamp of the database file changes.
• If the configuration and performance data points migration is from a pre-3.4 version to v3.5
through v3.5.2, the status of the migration is initially displayed in the command prompt
window. However, starting from v3.4, the status of the migration is logged in the
DataMigrationUtility.log file.
• If the migration is directly from v3.4 or later versions to v3.5 through v3.5.2, the status of
the migration is only logged in the DataMigrationUtility.log file.
• If you have chosen to migrate the entire set of data points, you need to wait for the upgrade
process to complete, to view the historical data. HP recommends that you do not generate
reports, charts, and so on till the upgrade process is complete.
7. After the migration is complete, verify the Performance Advisor functionality for historic data by
plotting charts, and check if you are able to view the previous set of collections. For more inform-
ation on Charts, see the HP StorageWorks XP Performance Advisor Software user guide.
8. Download the host agents from the Support screen of the Performance Advisor, and install them
on the hosts. This can be done irrespective of whether the configuration and performance data
points are completely converted, or partially converted to the new format. With the completion
of this step, Performance Advisor upgrade to v3.5 through v3.5.2 is completed. You can start
using Performance Advisor to collect performance and configuration data from XP arrays.
NOTE:
• Create/alter table errors logged during the migration do not have any impact on the migration
process and can be ignored.
• After upgrading Performance Advisor to v3.5 through v3.5.2, you must reconfigure the SMTP
settings on the management station to receive alarms and reports notifications. For more inform-
ation on configuring the SMTP settings, see the
HP StorageWorks XP Performance Advisor Software
user guide
