NOTE:
To run an application or a batch file on Windows Vista system, you need to right click on that particular
application or batch file, and select Run as Administrator from the pop-up menu.
Installing Performance Advisor v3.5 through v3.5.2
To install Performance Advisor, complete the following steps:
1. Log in to the Performance Advisor management station with administrative permissions.
2. Insert Performance Advisor installation CD 1 in the CD drive.
3. If the installation wizard does not start, run PA_Server.exe. A message appears that describes
important installation information.
4. Click Yes to continue.
5. Click Next.
6. When prompted the first time, insert Performance Advisor installation CD 2 in the CD drive, and
click OK to continue.
7. When prompted the second time, insert Performance Advisor installation CD 3 in the CD drive,
and click OK to continue.
8. When installation is complete, click Finish.

After completing the installation
To convert the configuration and performance data points to the new database format, complete the
following steps:
1. Stop Performance Advisor services (go to Start -> Programs -> HP Storage Works -> XP Perform-
ance Advisor -> Stop services).
2. In the Command Prompt window, navigate to the Temporary folder and execute the Con-
vertDB.bat file.
<local_drive>:\[Temporary]\DMUtilityZip\ConvertDB.bat <Temporary>
Example: C:\22_Nov_2008\DMUtilityZip\DBBackup.bat C:\22_Nov_2008

In the previous example, C:\22_Nov_2008 is the folder where the PADB is backed up.
3. Start the SOLID services: Solid.exe. You need to execute the Solid.exe that is available in
the DMUtilityZip folder.
4. In the Command Prompt window, navigate to the Temporary folder that has the downloaded
scripts, and execute the PreMigration.bat file.
<local_drive>:\[Temporary]\DMUtilityZip\PreMigration.bat
Example: C:\22_Nov_2008\DMUtilityZip\PreMigration.bat
This script migrates the configuration data and only the last 10 performance data points to the
new database format.
You can also convert the remaining set of data points immediately or at a later point in time. In
the command prompt window, go to the directory where you initially copied the Performance
Advisor upgrade scripts, and execute the DMU_RemainingDataMigration.bat file. This
