To Recover
To recover the link to the RAI D man ager library, complete the following steps:
1. Remove any links to the library by removing /opt/xppa/RMLIB
2. Remove the library itself by removing /usr/lib/RMLIB and /usr/lib/libsvrrm.sl
3. Remove the PA XP host station soft ware with /opt/xppa/uninstall.sh
4. Reinstall the
host station software by running the install.sh script from the tar le. This reinstalls the
proper RAID M
anager Library and the host PA XP software
NOTE:
You can also reinstall the RAID Manager Library without reinstalling the host software. To do so, run the
RLinstsh script from the tar le and provide the directory /usr/lib in response to the prompt.
Restarting the performance data collection in c ase of a disk
failure
Performance data collection stops on all arrays connected to a host, if a disk failure occurs in any one of
the arrays. This is because if a disk failure occurs, the host re-assigns device le names to all the XP LUNs
mapped to it, causing the performance data collection on the host to stop.
To start the performance data collection again, complete the following steps:
1. In the PA XP GUI, click Conguration
2. In the Host Information screen in the Conguration tab, select the host (on which performance
data collection stopped) and click Request Info. The screen is updated with Received once the
information is collected.
3. In the D ata Collection Conguration screen, delete and re-create the performance data collection
schedules for the selected host.
For details on cre ating performance data collection schedules, see the HP StorageWorks Per formance
AdvisorXPSoftwareuserguide.
4. Start the performance data collection for the host.
Sun host fails to communicate with the command device
The S un host agent has a memory/le handle error and is unable to communicate with the command
device. When a command device is shared by Sun and either Windows NT or Windows 2000, the
Windows NT or Windows 2000 user may not be able to use the disk administration utility, because
this utility overwrites the disk par tition label on the command device. If this happens, Sun cannot
communicate with the command device.
Solution
Congure Sun and Windows NT or Windows 2000 with their own command device. As a result, they
cannot access the other command device and m odify the partition label.
