If the HpssPaS
olid stops, resulting in PA XP to stop responding, complete the following steps to restart
the HpssPaSolid service and PA XP:
1. Launch the Services window on the PA XP m anag ement server
2. Select the Hps
sPaSolid service, open and set the Star tup type as Disabled
3. Reboot the machine
4. Go to Start -> Programs -> HP StogrageWorks -> Stop se rvices
5. N avigate to the <install directory>:\padb directory and delete the S*.log fi les
6. Go to Start -
> Programs -> HP StogrageWorks -> Start services
The HpssPaSolid service is started and PA XP is also started.
Java console has exceptions
The following are possible causes for exceptions in the Java console:
• The Apache engine is not running
• The database is empty
• The exceptions are from earlier problems and are no longer relevant
To resolve this problem, comp lete the following steps:
1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Pan el > Services
2. Select HpssApache
3. Select the Start but ton if the Status field is blank
4. Clear the Java Console and restore the current page
Logging into PA XP
The following error message appears when you log in to PA XP: HpssPaTomcat/HpssPaSolid
services may not be started!

e this problem, complete the following steps:
1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options
2. In the Connections tab, click LAN Settings
3. In the Lo
cal Area Network (LAN) Settings dialog box, click Advanced
4. In the E
xceptions box, type the IP address or fully qualifi ed D NS name of the management station
Management Station: Verifying that it is operational
To ensure that the Managem ent Station collects data, complete the following steps:
1. Verify that the H pssApache, HpssPaSolid, and HpssPaTomcat services are running
2. Verify that JRE 1.4.2_06 is installed by entering java - version at the command line prompt (from the
management station home directory). Solid expects this version level
