Hot-Plug Fans
Caution: Do not attempt to remove and replace a fan as a hot-plug procedure unless the
fan zone is redundant.
To remove a hot-plug fan:
1. Extend the server from the rack. Refer to “Extending the Server from the Rack” in this
chapter.
2. Open the rear access panel. Refer to “Opening and Removing the Rear Access Panel” in
this chapter.
3. Identify the failed fan by locating the fan with the amber LED.
4. Pull the tabs on the top of the fan (1).
5. Remove the fan from the server (2).
