v1.6.0 - HP StorageWorks NAS 8000 - Release Notes
• In an HA environment, CA Unicenter reports the first package IP address discovered as the IP
address for the cluster.
• The NAS icon does not appear correctly in HP TopTools.
Virus Guard
• A volume being scanned cannot be deleted while the scan task is running. Wait until scan task is
complete to delete volume.
• RTP ignores volumes with NFS mount points defined. Only volumes with CIFS shares will be
scanned. Volumes with both NFS mounts and CIFS shares will not be scanned in real time. Use
“Scheduled Scans” to check volumes with NFS mounts points.
• Virus Guard requires volumes to be named with alphanumeric characters only. Volumes named
with special characters will neither display properly nor be scanned. Use the Command View
NAS interface to change the volume names if needed.
• If you use the “Program Files only” option for scan control or real time protection, Virus Guard will
scan a file if it has the execute bit (x-bit) turned on for UNIX systems or if it has an extension that
is known to be susceptible to viruses. The default UNIX attributes for a file written with the CIFS
(Windows) protocol is 766 (rwxrw-rw-). Since the x-bit is set for files whenever CIFS is used to
copy the file to the NAS 8000 server, the “Program Files only” option will end up scanning every
file on the NAS 8000 server. We recommend using the “All Files” option. The "All Files" option
works faster because it bypasses searching the file attributes. Regardless of the option used,
"Program Files only" or "All Files", the result is the same.
• Quarantined files remain in the quarantine section of user volumes even after Virus Guard is
uninstalled. When reinstalled, these quarantined files will show up in the "Manage Quarantined
Files" section of the user interface, as expected. If Virus Guard is to be uninstalled permanently,
all files should be removed from quarantine before Virus Guard is uninstalled. This will release
the space used by quarantined files.
Backup
• The Data Protector agent for the NAS 8000 cannot be used to control the pre-merger HP Tape
Library changers when connected via FC. Connecting tape drives with FC is supported. This
includes (2/20, 4/40, 6/60, 10/100, 10/180, 20/700). The Tape Library changer must be controlled
from an NT or HP-UX node (also running Data Protector), when FC-connected libraries are used.
Data Protector with SCSI-connected 2/20, 4/40, 6/60, 10/100, and 10/180 libraries are the
preferred configuration.
• When configuring the MSL/ESL with Data Protector, the "add device" configuration must be used.
The "auto configure" mode will not correctly associate the tape changer with its tape devices, and
the SuperDLT device type is not recognized by the NAS 8000 automatic device configure
module. Both FC and SCSI connections are supported.
• The 20/700 tape changer should not be controlled via the NAS 8000, as this is an un-tested
configuration.
• When the MSL/ESL bridge (E1200 firmware versions 4.03.14 and 4.03.16.) is configured with
direct (FC LOOP mode) connections to the NAS 8000 tape HBAs, the bridge should be
configured in "Auto Select" mode, with "2G" link speed. Refer to the MSL configuration guides for
setup of the E1200. The Switch Fabric mode is preferred, using either McData or Brocade
switches, with either the Data Protector agent or NDMP service with NetBackup or NetWorker.
• Data Protector backups with NAS 8000 will issue a warning message "Unrecognized option "-
hdrcheck" => ignored". While not an error condition, this message can be eliminated by adding to
the cell master OB2HEADERCHECK=0 to .omni\config\options\global. This affects all DP
nodes.
